Caps and Gowns

All degree candidates participating in Commencement must wear academic regalia. The Syracuse University Bookstore coordinates cap and gown sizing and distribution for SU and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF).

Bachelor’s Candidates

Syracuse University and ESF provide undergraduate degree candidates with a custom gown at no charge. Students may keep these gowns. The SU gown is blue with orange piping and features the SU seal on the front. The ESF gown is green with white piping and features the ESF seal on the front.

Master’s and Doctoral Candidates

Master’s and doctoral candidates wear tradiational black regalia and appropriate hoods.  Candidates can be measured, rent, and pick up their gowns in one visit to a distribution site (listed below). If a candidate is not going to be on campus during one of the distribution dates, he or she may order a cap and gown online through the Syracuse University Bookstore, and have it shipped.
