Cap and Gown

The Syracuse University Bookstore will coordinate cap and gown sizing and distribution for Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry degree candidates. All degree candidates participating in Commencement must wear academic dress.

Distribution

Degree candidates do NOT pre-order caps and gowns before distribution dates. If necessary, master’s and doctoral degree candidates who will not be on campus during the week of distribution may pre-order their caps and gowns online and have their regalia shipped to them.

ESF bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates may pick up caps and gowns in the Bray Hall first-floor Rotunda:

Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Syracuse University

Syracuse University bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral candidates may pick up caps and gowns in the Schine Student Center, Main Campus:

Monday, May 5, through Friday, May 9
Schine Student Center, Underground
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 10
Schine Student Center, Room 228B
8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bachelor’s Candidates

CUSTOM DESIGN GOWNS

Bachelor’s candidates will receive and keep the appropriate SU or ESF gown at no charge: a blue gown with orange piping and SU seal for SU candidates and a green gown with white piping and ESF seal for ESF candidates.

Master’s and Doctoral Candidates

TRADITIONAL GOWNS

Master’s and doctoral candidates will wear traditional black regalia and appropriate hood, which may be rented from the above distribution centers.

PAYMENT METHODS: Cash, Visa, MasterCard, and University Bookstore charge.

LATE ARRIVALS may pick up caps and gowns outside Gate D of the Carrier Dome on Sunday, May 11, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

RENTAL caps and gowns must be returned after Commencement to the bookstore truck outside Gate D by 1:30 p.m. OR to the main bookstore in the Schine Student Center by 3:30 p.m.

PARKING for Schine Student Center cap and gown distribution is available at no charge in the University Avenue Parking Garage, located on University Avenue and Adams Street. To validate parking ticket, you must show your gown to the parking attendant.
